My End of the Pencil: English 1
So Mr. French

I heard from a reliable source that you showed your class my Indiana Jones rant -.-

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy?

I’m reading Demons and Angels by the guy who wrote the Da Vinci Code. I haven’t read the Da Vinci Code, but I heard A&D was the prequel to it so I don’t know.

I’m going to Harding next year.

So it’s like, they didn’t want to come here to this nice new pretty building because we’re a bunch of hobos, so in the end pretty much all of us are going to join them in their old shaggy building. Either way they got us.

I imagine: they won and were like:

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

And then found out they won us and were like

For the people who broke their new years resolution already….

PATHETIC

Mockingjay review without spoilers

I said as much as I could without giving anything away, so this might be confusing. I don’t care. I had to say SOMETHING about the book.

I thought it was the worst one in the series, but I didn’t hate it. It just didn’t live up to the other two. For most of the first half, Suzanne Collins allowed Katniss to go weak. I don’t like weak female leads (I can’t stand Bella from Twilight at all) so that was disappointing. There wasn’t as much action in the first half. The action was why I liked the Hunger Games books so much. Like, stick with the genre people! The writing style was still consistent with the other two and beautiful, but the events made it stale like expired bread. Not burnt bread, not bad, but stale. Gale got a lot of page time, which I liked, but Peeta didn’t, which wasn’t. Peeta … grrr Peeta was frustrating. I don’t want to give it away, but what happened was so hsodfiasklfjd. It didn’t feel right. Remember how I thought he should have died in the first one, but then changed my mind reading the second one because he was important to the bigger picture? Yeah, well, I go back to voting him wanted dead. DEAD. DEAD. DEAD. It didn’t feel right at all. Like, what the Effie (I missed her too).

That was what I thought through the first half. The second half was better, because the action came back! It saved the book. There was one little thing I couldn’t stand that happened though. I don’t want to give it away, but I found the whole thing pointless. I didn’t get what she was trying to enforce by adding that in there.

Basically overall, she could have done way better by adding more events. I didn’t feel she lacked details, because the flow was good, but there was so many other things going on I wished she could have gone deeper in, aspects of the rebellion. She didn’t hold back on her literary element genius-ness, especially with the symbolism. (Was the ropes and knot tying thing a big symbol in the first two? I can’t remember.)

There was a whole lot of other stuff I want to mention, but then I’ll give it all away. So I’ll stop here. Like I said, I’ll give you your book back either before or after first block Mr. French.

Finished

Soo, I finished Mockingjay. I’ll give you your book back on Monday Mr. French, either before or right after first block, depending on my dumb unpredictable bus. I’ll post my un-spoilered review soon.

Chernobyl
Misery

I broke my promise. I’m reading Misery by Stephan King.

So far, I love it. I’m only on the 28th page, but still. The way its written is so fascinating. It’s about this writer dude who gets in an accident and ends up waking up with his legs shattered in this crazy lady’s house who’s completely obsessed with him. I realize from my past experience with The Shinning that most of this book might be spent explaining details, but I don’t really mind. The way it’s explained is absorbing. The lady is so obnoxious; she made him drink dirty rag water to wash down the pain-killers she gave him. Which was GROSS. She’s a crazy demented monster.

I can’t get a copy of Mockingjay either. I heard it’s not that good compared to the others. This girl I know gave it a really bad review so I’m just like meh. I still want to read it though, eventually. I hope they don’t ruin the movies. Katniss needs to be played by someone really awesome, or the whole thing’s gonna stink.

Mr. French are you still in the same room as last year?

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
I laughed so hard at this part.
“Engorgio…. REDUCIO! REDUCIO!”

HP

You’re so mean to my innocent perceptions of the movie! But now I see you have a point. There really wasn’t any plot elements (or proper ones) because they sliced the book in half. I don’t, however, think that’s a fair reason to judge it for. Even though they made it into two legal definitions of movies, I don’t think it should be judged like that. They filmed both of them together, as if it was one, so I’m going to think of it like that. No real judgements can be made until Part 2 comes out and I smash it together like one of my PB&J lunches.

“The book has so many internal conflicts that were not expressed as well in the movie.” Agreed. That was the main thing I hated about the movie. It didn’t seem as real without that. Despite its imperfections, it really was the best one they made since the third movie. After that it went downhill. This was a great comeback.

You beat me Mackenzie. I don’t know how many words I got down, but I decided to extend the first longer short story and make it even longer. I’m stuck with the rest of my ideas, and the more I think about it the stupider they sound. I’m just laskfj;aseiasoiefjkalsdjfoi;ejf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been really discouraged with writing lately. I don’t want to give up though, because I like doing it, but instead of improving I feel like I’m failing at it. I want to get back to reading books and take a break already. You’ll let me read yours won’t you? Please please please please!

Deathly Hallows

I thought it was the best of the HP movies that came out as of late.

It was so true to the book, except for some things. I loved the parts when it quoted the book word for word.

It didn’t capture most of the feelings from the book, but what do you expect? Everything is better when J.K. Rowling is telling it in print form. They did pretty good though. Especially towards the end. Especially with Dobby…

I loved the part where Herminone told the Tale of the Three Brothers.

Rupert Grint/Ron was amazing. Best acting goes to him. Bellatrix, whoever her name was in real life, was pretty close. Most evil villian ever, I see many awards coming for them. Emma Watson was good at acting like she was in pain. I read somewhere that she was really looking forward to being tortured by her in the movie. I could tell. Dan, well, he was goofy looking XD And Dobby…  he was the very best ♥

AND VOLDEMORT IS GOING DOWN in the next one. Best believe.
